The Cellebrite product line covers two tasks: acquiring mobile devices and computers, and analysing the resulting data. What matters is not the product name but the access depth a specific device permits.
Where it is used
- Logical, advanced logical and, for some models, full file system acquisition of mobile devices
- Acquisition of running or controlled-boot computers, including macOS systems with soldered storage
- Consolidation of chat, call, media and location data into a single timeline
- Export of individual artefacts with a reference to their position in the raw data
Limits
- Locked and encrypted devices often permit only limited acquisition, or none at all.
- Support for a model can change with each operating system update from the manufacturer.
- Automatically generated categories and attributions are reviewed manually before any statement.
